#OTD 2 July 1851 — @prestwickgc is founded. The 13th Earl of Eglinton becomes first Captain. Tom Morris is appointed by James Ogilvy Fairlie and serves until 1864 before returning to St Andrews. Prestwick Golf Club marks 175 years next year.

THE FIRST HOLE-IN-ONE? #OTD 16 Sept 1869, Tom Morris Jr made the first hole-in-one in The Open at Prestwick’s Station Hole (166 yards). He went on to win The Open his 2nd victory, having first won the year before aged just 17. #golf #TheOpen #PrestwickGolfClub
