Unrepentant sinners don’t fully understand the cross or they’d run to it and Christians of today don’t fully appreciate it or they’d be living radically different lives. New age theology has diminished the power of the cross sadly.

I was guilty as charged. He took my place and died as me. He canceled out every legal violation I had on my record and the old arrest warrant that stood to indict me. He erased it all-my sins, stained soul-he deleted it all and they cannot be retrieved! Lavish grace. Lavish love.

Jesus understood as all things had been accomplished that scripture had been fulfilled Satan had been defeated at the Cross He uttered 3 words of victory 3 words that changed our course “It Is Finished.

Tetelestai in the Greek is so much more fitting than the English it is finished it is the resounding finality of what Jesus had accomplished it’s not just finished in the past it means that it has happened and is still in effect today. Jesus victory is forever and eternal.

Tetelestai is essentially the Gospel summed up in a single word. It was not the cry of a victim or a martyr but rather the conquering Savior of Man Kind.

John 19:28 After this, Jesus, [a]knowing that all things were now accomplished, (A)that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”
