Prof AJ Jenkins shows that, while people may argue about the risks of high LDL, the use of statins is directly linked to a 21-25% reduction in cardiovascular events and retinopathy risk.

The BGL excursion since the pump failure. Dinner was a protein shake and some beef stir-fry made from scratch. I still managed to peak around 11mmol/L though. Some Novorapid boluses later and I'm back in the land of unicorns

One design flow in the CamDiab phone app is, when your pump dies, while you can get to your profile, you cannot access the bolus calculator. Thankfully, I have AAPS running in virtual pump mode to help me 'drive stick' until the replacement pump arrives.

It turns out Abbott Glucerna uses Maltodextrin as the primary sweetener. Using it to replace meals and snacking in between did not work out so well...For more information check out this (and many other) reviews of Sugar Free Gummy Bears amazon.com/review/R2JGNJ5…

After living the low carb lifestyle for a couple of days, and discovering Glucerna is not for me, I am back in the land of loop. Tonight we celebrate with homemade butter chicken and a small, sensible portion of brown rice or maybe cauliflower rice, depending on the BGLs

Welcome back looping! A celebratory fish and chips to make sure the loop is working and, sure enough, it sticks the landing like a champ. Lots learned and I hope to include it in a blog this weekend about how my pump plan stood up.

Study linking Low Carb High Fat (<100g/day carb) with increased LDL, ApoB, and Major Adverse Cardiac Events. Doesn't mean you shouldn't eat low carb but may be worth considering taking lipid moderating medication on them. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39081652/

This screen is the reason I keep AndroidAPS running on my phone even though I use a commercial loop. Through this interface I can track all the set changes which is very useful for planning ahead for trips or just knowing what to do before an all-day event #WeAreNotWaiting

Sometimes, we test our limits so we know where they are. I can now say I truly know what hyperglycaemia feels like. Quite happy not to revisit any time soon. For uninitiated, think exhaustion, hangover, and generally stretched beyond normal limits.

While browsing the Twittersphere I came across a video saying "India is 50% vegetarian, up to 80% in some areas so why do they have the same rates of colon cancer? It was an interesting idea, so I did 30 seconds of Googling, and it turns out they don't. wcrf.org/cancer-trends/…
