Everyone at Portadown FC is saddened to learn of the passing of Frank Gillespie. Frank was brought to the Ports in May 1971 by Gibby McKenzie before moving on to Carrick Rangers a year later. We send our sincere condolences to the Gillespie family circle at this sad time.

In August 1985 Billy Paton hit a hat-trick as Portadown FC defeated Ballymena United FC 3-2. It can’t be often that a player scores 3️⃣ but doesn’t lift the MOTM award. That honour went to John McKee.

Putting smilies on faces - mission accomplished- Shamrock Park was a sea of smiling faces today as Niall Currie and Portadown FC finished the season with a highly creditable 8th place finish. He said he would put the smilies back on faces and he did just that.

In September 1969 Portadown FC signed a soldier named John Robson, but he would never make an appearance, probably for operational reasons due to the rising civil unrest.

Still a work in progress, I am continuing to research those associated with Portadown FC that served and those that gave their lives in service of their country. In particular I am looking for photographs for those men that died in WWI.
