Went hiking near the earthquake epicenter this weekend (Cushetunk Mountain). Didn’t feel any aftershocks, but saw a lot of ephemerals - spring beauties, rue anemones, and more.

History pedantry: the U.S. was comprised of states before the Constitution (there's a document signed on July 4, 1776 you may want to look up). Moreover, New Jersey's own independent state charter was ratified on July 2, 1776.

I’m about 20 miles from the epicenter. It felt akin to what I experienced when I lived in LA. Strong enough to really rumble, but not knock anything over . First thought was something was crashing from the sky but knew I wasn’t hearing anything outside.

Seeing earthquake reports from Baltimore to Boston. I first thought it was a subway train derailing. But then remembered I’m in suburban New Jersey.

Order clearly applies to whole ballot. Also, opinion indicates that both parties’ county orgs were given opportunity to intervene, so it seems unlikely to sway judge on this basis.

[Maybe an opening if the question is federal vs local offices, based on wording of opinion?]

The judge's ruling in the New Jersey ballot design case provides a strong endorsement of the practical value of social science research. Kudos to Julia Sass Rubin Sam Wang is at samwang.bsky.social and Josh Pasek for putting statistical meat on the bones of a thorny political issue.

“One of the things that I constantly remind folks is the vital importance of a strong, independent and trusted news media is fundamental to the health of our democracy.”

Who said this in 2022? Cesar Conde, one of the NBC execs who hired Ronna McDaniel.
