Toi Derricotte & Cornelius Eady established Cave Canem in 1996 to remedy the underrepresentation & isolation of Black poets in the literary landscape. That summer, a cohort of 26 fellows kicked off the first annual Cave Canem Retreat. Learn more: bit.ly/4dQthXw
