This rare wild thyme (Thymus integer) grows only on the mountain slopes of Cyprus. Unlike the familiar pot herb, its luminous pink flowers stand on end, like trumpets to the sky.

This stunning 'Katharine Hodgkin' Iris is a dwarf iris which only grows to 12cm in height so be sure to look down when you next visit the Alpinum Garden. With its large pale blue flowers and falls heavily veined with deeper blue and yellow at the base you shouldn't miss this.

The Garden of Allah is a place of peace and planting heritage. Created in 1925, it’s now one of the most richly planted areas of the Garden, home to rare champion trees, shrubs and perennials - many grown from seed collected by legendary plant hunters.

By day, it looks like any other mushroom. But once the sun sets, Omphalotus nidiformis,—also known as the ghost fungus–illuminates. Native to Australia, this bioluminescent mushroom emits a beautiful green glow that can light up the forest floor. The glow comes from an enzyme
