what I’ll talk about (tldr):

☀️ photosynthetic efficiency suffers during changes in light (which happens lots on the field!)
🌱 most of what we know about this limitation comes from C3 species… so what about C4???
🌽 C4 plants include powerhouses like maize and sorghum

New paper by Emmanuel 🚨

🌱 C4 species are thought to have less stomata
🌿 We tested if C4 stomata also have different responses to blue and red light
🔵 We found C4 dicots have strongly diminished stomatal sensitivity to blue light

Really exciting to finally have this out! Especially interesting how CO2 assimilation in C4 species when going from higher to lower light was stronger AND more sustained than in C3 species (also quite proud of my graphs for this one too...)
