Young players should play in every position on the pitch.

It's important for their development.

If you are a striker who has played centre back, you understand the game much better

Insanely sophisticated development plan for players aged between 5-12 years...

Vision SSG:

Coach is behind the goals. They don't touch the ball but run behind any of the 3 goals.

If coach is behind a goal, you can't score in that one.

Kids love to see you working up a sweat. The better the players play, the more running the coach has to do.

Real Madrid SSG:

Goals are back to back in the centre of the pitch. One team defends the goal facing south, the other defends the goal facing north

You must have 1 player in each half at all times and you can't kick the ball over the goals.

Encourages width and depth.

Playground SSG:

Two games at the same time. One game left to right, the other game up to down.

React to chaotic situations and solve problems using scanning and awareness 🧠

Diagonal SSG:

Goals are in the corners of the pitch. Both teams have two goals to attack and defend.

Helps with scanning and awareness 👀

DON'T limit touches.

Grassroots football:

A bunch of angry adults competing against each other to see who has the most physically developed 9 year old.

Kids MUST be comfortable on the ball first before they can learn how to share it.

Only 25% of coaching is about 'drills'.

The other 75% comes from reviewing, refining and adapting.
