Eclipses happen elsewhere in the solar system. The Jovian moon Ganymede casts a shadow on Jupiter, totally eclipsing the Sun each new moon. Ganymede orbits Jupiter about four times faster than our Moon orbits us.

At totality, the Sun's corona (outer atmosphere) is expected to be huge, augmenting the drama of the eclipse. The Sun will be near a maximum in its 11-year magnetic cycle, leading to the enlarged corona. There should also be plenty of sunspots visible during the partial phases.
