Here’s a great pic of the game mound as Mike is finishing up his postgame repair after a night included a first pitch delay and light rain through the first half of the game. He’s got the clay patched and slicked and is about to add conditioner before tarping it for the night.

Other than some light rain Wednesday night, we’re getting some great weather for home stand #11.

It’s a beautiful day to punch a few million holes to help the turf breathe and push deeper after some disease damage.

Since joining the Fort Wayne TinCaps in 2010, Keith Winter has led TinCaps_GroundsCrew in keeping Parkview Field one of the best ballparks in all of baseball. After serving as head groundskeeper for more than 15 years, Winter is capping his career with the 'Caps 💚❤️⚾️

Great weather in into home stand #12 vs. Toledo Mud Hens . 88 games played here so far this season, with just 12 home games remaining. The good weather has helped the turf start to recover from the use this season and the disease damage in August.

Sunday was the close of the 2025 season. We had a larger than typical crew for the game, which included 49 years of MiLB game day crew experience and 14 years of MiLB FT/intern experience. So blessed to steward this field with these guys and several others who worked this season.

Thx to the guys from the City of Allentown Parks Department 4 coming out earlier this week with their Aerovator and Ventrac 2 aerate our seating hill. Since then, it’s been topdressed w/ enriched soil in thin spots, overseeded, and fertilized to get it ready for the 2026 season.

Poor Man’s Grow Tarp. Picked up the idea of plastic sheeting grow tarps @ a clinic 20 years ago. We had 2 seed these areas in late October due 2 construction. It can be 8-12 degrees warmer under tarp on a sunny day, allowing 2 get better coverage despite cool, blustery weather.

Wrapped up tucking in the bullpen mounds for the winter. Completed flipping the rubber, removed the contaminated clay, re-graded the clay ensuring height, distance, and slope, and then matched the infield mix portions to the clay. See you in the Spring.

Couldn’t agree more. Many in our industry are willing to share ideas and experiences. It may not always be cheap or easy solutions, especially if a field has been neglected for a while, but it is achievable.
