The “postdoc” is an antiquated concept and should just be replaced with real jobs with real benefits and retirement packages. For God’s sake, the folks have PhDs… they’ve paid their dues.

So universities make research professors pay for their entire salary & research through grant funding, but then the university also takes a cut of your grant funding? Seems like you’d have to always apply for grants, so when do you do research? Is this why you’re all kinda grumpy

Most good projects take 2-3 years AT LEAST to complete so how are PhD students supposed to do the revisions?
