In the same 24 hours, scotus made abortion illegal in half the country and the Senate of the largest, most "progressive" state in the Union confirmed that yes, they would like to keep prison slavery in place. That's sitting heavy with me today. #ACA3 #RoeVsWade #EndTheException

A team of psychologists, led by scholars at University of Illinois, proposes a new training model that would prepare practitioners in their discipline to respond to the social ills of racial discrimination and other forms of opression. ow.ly/qFOj50KvS1o

Is the community “vulnerable” or targeted? “Poor” or chronically disenfranchised? “Low-income” or are its residents disproportionately impacted by discriminatory hiring practices that impact upward mobility? “At risk” or put in a precarious position due to structural violence?

It’s interesting that many humanities conferences have been much better at implementing COVID protections than scientific and medical conferences. Likely it’s because they have a lot more awareness about equity and justice.

Really important work, here. "...over two-thirds (66.5%) of sites did not pay a stipend that equaled or exceeded a living wage." The stress that comes with trying to survive on these stipends cannot be fully conveyed.

A reminder as we enter #APPIC interview season that it is perfectly okay (if not recommended) to ask the current interns how “livable” their site’s stipend really is, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the area.

📣 Excited to share our team’s (Raymond La B. Andi Lee @AnneSawPhD) work in American Journal of Community Psychology highlighting a range of racialized experiences among Asians/Asian Americans during COVID and the role of internalized model minority beliefs onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/aj…

Regarding the Roberts preprint: All psych race scholars both had an experience like this. All have heard countless experiences like it from our colleagues. It keeps us with at least 1 foot out of the door of academia, where it is so often made clear that we don't belong.

Positionality statements are grounded in constructivist epistemology. Arguing with post-positivist logic to say they harm science is like saying acknowledging race creates racism.
