Celebrating 18 years of someone we all look up to - Lewis the giraffe! 🦒 The big guy celebrated with a towering three-tiered cake and some special birthday gifts. Hoping many new adventures stretch ahead for our friend who stands head and shoulders above the rest! ❤️

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ellie Mae, our northern elephant seal. Beached as a pup, her vision issues would not allow her to survive in the wild. We took her into our Water’s Edge habitat to give her a safe home and are honored to have given her a second chance.

So many of our penguins have birthdays in the spring and summer that we had a special hatchday celebration to cover the colony! The birds at the Zoo breed in March which results in a bunch of birthdays. Despite the tuxedos, it was an informal party with icy treats for all!

This Labor Day we salute the hardest working animal in the Zoo - the American Beaver! This busy creature uses its top-notch engineering skills to build the lodges where they live, as well as dams to create new aquatic environments. The Zoo is open today until 5:30 p.m.
