Lithium batteries power everything from phones to e-bikes—but they can be dangerous if damaged, overcharged, or exposed to heat. During Fire Ops 101, we demonstrated these dangers in a controlled environment, so our participants can see just how destructive they can be!

Big thank you to District 33 State Representative, Doug Mastriano, for joining us at Fire Ops 101! He and Nathan Silcox, Senate VAEP Executive Director, give us some insight on the day 🔥🚒🧯

When every second counts, firefighters rely on the Jaws of Life to save lives after serious crashes or structural collapses. 💪 Our Fire Ops 101 participants got a firsthand look at the equipment, and even got to try it out for themselves.

Fire Ops 101 is designed to give decision makers a behind the scenes look at what firefighters go through every day. State Representative from District 128, Mark Gillen, was one of those lucky enough to participate – and he was definitely grateful for the experience!

John Inglis, State Representative District 38, and Jared Solomon, State Representative District 202, share their thoughts on participating in Fire Ops 101. We think they look like naturals! 😉🚒

We mourn the loss of retired Firefighter James “Moe” Mahoney. A proud U.S. Marine, devoted family man, and co-founder of the Firefighters Honor Guard, Moe served Pittsburgh with honor for nearly 30 years. Our hearts are with his family and loved ones. Rest easy, Brother Mahoney.
