The marriage didn't end until 2013.
That's way too long to be unhappy.

Anyway, this is my first published poem. Ever.
And today is my birthday.
So I can say that for my 48th birthday, I became a poet.

Today when I picked up my 7yo from Sunday School he said, “Mom, I wrote a book!”

Then we sat down together and read the book he wrote about friendship and trees.

Third chilly/rainy Saturday in a row. April showers brought May showers 😑

This is everything I hoped my grandfather’s love letters would be 🤍

I did it. I wrote a book. All the way to the end.

Today my mom:

Picked up daughter, took her to tutoring.
Picked up son, brought him home.
Took recycling can to the curb.
Left home-cooked dinner in our fridge *just because.*

If you are a grandparent who can move closer to your grandkids, please do. It is life changing.

when I was 13 and trying to get my picture book manuscript published, I found out I needed an agent and rather than query one, I asked my school teacher to be my agent. She agreed and I put her name on all the letters to publishers 😂😂

All these years in and I’m still taken aback by how much difference prayer makes. I can think to myself upon waking, “I don’t have what it takes today,” then drag myself to the place God and I meet in the mornings, open my Bible & it’s as if he says, “I have what it takes. Here.”
