Numerous petroglyphs in the monument depict the wildlife found in this area. On your next visit, keep an eye out for images of mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, and even a few fish. You may even see the wildlife they portray. NPS Photo / Daniel Leifheit

With cacti in the monument being in bloom at the moment, a number of pollinators can be found buzzing around the flowers. One fun pollinator fact is that New Mexico is home to around 1,000 species of bees. NPS Photo #cactus #bees #petroglyphnationalmonument

Did you know that the berries of the three-leaf sumac that is found in the monument have been used by people for 2,000 years? The berries were either eaten raw or brewed into a tart, lemon-flavored tea. These berries were also dried and ground to make a burnt-orange colored dye.
