David Clifford, Shane McGuigan and Colm Basquel deserved their All-Stars. In saying that, Cormac Costello was very unlucky to miss out. He was mustard in most of Dublin's matches. He might go into 2024 with a bit of a chip on his shoulder now!

A lot of people will be surprised to learn this morning that James McCarthy has not been shortlisted for the Footballer of the Year award.

David Clifford, Brian Fenton and Brendan Rogers got the nod.

Ethan Doherty, Eoin McEvoy and Conor Carroll are up for Young F of the Y.

As I've said many times, if/when fully fit, there isn't a more complete and influential footballer in the country than Jack McCaffrey.

Yes, please! Similar to how the Beeb used to do FA Cup finals back in the day. I've always thought this should have been the norm for years. Make this happen, The GAA. Thanks!

I appreciate that there are major calls being made for James McCarthy or David Clifford to be F of the Y. But surely Colm Basquel should be the winner of the award. He was the top scorer from play in the champ, created so many other key scores and was a selfless runner/worker.

Just when I thought I couldn't respect and admire Brian Fenton any more than I do, he goes and knocks about in the most classic of retro Cork City FC jerseys, perhaps channelling his inner Patsy Freyne, another midfield maestro! πŸ˜‚πŸ™Œ

Isn't it an absolute joke that we have to wait until next January to watch another men's inter-county hurling or football match?! I really think that gap is far too long. They should go back to having the finals at the end of August. Give it one more month.

Watched Dublin Kerry again this morning.
Mick Fitzsimons really was outstanding.
A player for whom the contest is the juice.
Zero interest in celebrity.
A giant who has never required the laws of gravity to keep him grounded.
As for Mannion and Fenton: Rolls Royce ballers.

Yesterday was one of my favourite days. Took the nephew Jay to his first senior final. Another young lad who lives and breathes it.
Galway '98. Sinead O'Connor. Dublin. Kerry. Christy Dignam.
All-Ireland final-day - in a crazy world, nothing compares.

If/When fully fit, Jack McCaffrey is the most influential and complete player in the game. And to see a lad hop around like that is just quality. You can be an elite operator and still enjoy the good times.

Great to see Dean Rock and the rest of the Dubs really enjoying this one. Today was a special day in Croker. Very privileged to be there. Amazing.
