Depending on how things play out, the Scottish Greens could be more powerful in Scottish politics now than they were at any time in the Bute House Agreement. If they can stomach a u-turn on the vote, they could make all kinds of demands of Yousaf that go way beyond the BHA terms.

Even if Humza Yousaf were to accept this as a price worth paying to save his own position, how on earth does he sell it to his party?

He’s trying to find a party - any party - willing to save his job now. But it’ll likely come down to winning back Greens (who he just sacked from his gov) or being propped up by the one MSP from Salmond’s Alba Party.

That faction would rather work with the Greens - who Yousaf just dumped from his gov.
