Very ahistorical to draw parallel between a ceded-territory Russia-Ukraine peace & Soviet rule in Germany at end of WW2. Soviets were an ally, not the enemy, and war ended with unconditional surrender & conquer of Berlin (mostly by Soviets).

Really enjoyed our AAS panel on 'The PRC’s Global Stature in the Cold War.' Great papers by Yasser Nasser, Pete Millwood 米维德, Emily Wilcox, & @drhaochen. Wonderful comments by Keisha A. Brown. The PRC history field is alive and thriving!
