Today we mourn the passing of “Marvelous Marv Matkins”, a super supporter of the Museum @ Black Hills Institute. Marv is on your right, his lovely wife Chris in the middle with Bob Farrar on the left. instagr.am/p/CG1IoEyJUb_/

Not only was Marv in court with us during the trial, but he was at the 3 day seizure when the National Guard loafed Sue, the T.rex, onto trucks to hall her away. instagr.am/p/CG1JoDApXzw/

Not only did Marv, like the whole Town of Hill City, protest the seizure, but he literally put his life on the line by lying down in front of the huge trucks to try to stop the seizure. instagr.am/p/CG1J9i7JkXF/

Our crew just finished up the putty work on the Stan Dig cast. After a dark wash we will pack it off to the Japanese museum for kids to dig up.

The correct placement of the furcula in theropods (in this case, T.rex Stan) is touching both scapulae, with the coracoids also nearly touching.

Here’s T.rex manual claws on the right (digit I & II) and Nanotyrannus claws on the right. Wyrex, Sue and Pecks Rex hands on the left and a new Nanotyrannus hand on the far right. Notice the ACTUAL size difference.
