Short video introducing philosophy of science, work in the field & 'causation in science' X➡️Y 🧪🧬🧠

What is philosophy of science? Why does it matter for science and science communication?

Thanks to Luis Fonseca & UCI Social Sciences @uci for creating this!

Decoupling Measurements and Processes: On the Epiphenomenon Debate Surrounding Brain Oscillations in Field Potentials

Really excellent paper by S van Bree, D Levenstein, M Krause, B Voytek, & R Gao
This one really needs further discussion!

Please spread the word about this to colleagues!

The hope is that this workshop will help make links between computational and experimental researchers in molecular neuro.

If successful may turn into annual online/in person meeting.

Nature now charges $12,290 US to publish a single article open access. Shall we list some things that cost less than that? I'll go first: a 2017 BMW 330i sedan, a 7-day cruise for a family of four, six Louis Vuitton purses. 🤪

'Mood disorders are psychological, not biological.' What does that even mean?

Check this out from neuroscientist Nicole C Rust, PhD , excellent and very accessible piece in The Transmitter

Yesterday at 2pm the first honeybee (Apis mellifera) in this species’ evolutionary history managed to pull a string for reward. They are much harder to train than bumblebees, though!
