We had a couple of fantastic #swift walks in Angus this week. In #Arbroath we had a screaming party of 19 - far bigger than expected - and found 2 new nest sites. What a night! They are all now on the #Swiftmapper. Floss was good at listening out for screaming parties 😀

The Common red soldier beetle is a great garden friend as it eats aphids as well as pollen and nectar. This amorous couple were on a Hogweed flower. Did you know Common hogweed is edible and can be lightly steamed and eaten like asparagus? Yum yum.

Our resident female osprey NC0 & her new beau the 'Dark Intruder' are still active on the reserve; preening, eating, nestorating and defending the territory, including from some unringed intruders & 'Blue 247', a three year old born near Tain and sighted in 2021 in Sengal.

Fab evening leading a joint RSPB Scotland & Falkirk Council Swift walk in Airth with Falkirk Ranger Lesley Sweeney. Thankfully the rain stayed off (great rainbows!🌦️🌈) We had loads of Swifts feeding overhead, and a couple of scream parties added to #SwiftMapper too.
