This week our Enigma and Viernes scout troops enjoyed a joint meeting, learning first hand from Woodhead MRT. The scouts loved every minute and we even had one scout awarded their Chief Scout Gold Award by the Mountain Rescue team leader!

Our squirrels headed outdoors this week to explore the trees, leaves, and wildlife in our local area, as part of their Go Wild badge. They had a lovely time and enjoyed their snacks and hot chocolate!

Our beavers got creative this week and decorated bird boxes as part of their My Outdoor challenge award. We think the birds living in the wild will love their new homes!

Our Cubs learnt all about wild camping this week from our special visitors Andy and Paul. We were shown specialist equipment and learnt all about how how to stay safe and well while enjoying the great outdoors! Thank you @beavo77 and Paul Messner !

Our scouts spent an evening skating and our Cubs did a scavenger hunt around town this week. It was our Beavers’ turn for Taekwondo, whilst our Squirrels spent time at the Library. What a busy week for our young people- see you after half term!

What’s better than a campfire snack? Two campfire snacks! Our beavers and cubs made s’mores and cheesy nachos on fires and enjoyed lighting sparklers too this week.

There are lots of ways to mark Remembrance and this week, our squirrels, beavers and cubs made poppy decorations as a way to remember the service and sacrifices the Armed Forces, their families and communities made and continue to make, on our behalf.

Our Enigma scouts have had a busy few weeks! They planned and created low-carbon meals, which they presented to their leaders at their meeting this evening. It was a fun night (if a little messy) and the meals tasted pretty good too!

This week our Enigma and Viernes Scout troops teamed up and spent an evening with Think Forensic. They were taught how to solve a series of linked crime scenes using finger print techniques, making casts of footprints and good old detective work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Penistone Scout’s Carol Service, and well done to all our young people who performed this evening. Don’t forget raffle tickets are still on sale and there are some incredible prizes to be won!

Our squirrels were hit at Buckingham Care Home! They performed Christmas carols and brought along flowers and handmade cards for the residents. Thank you for having us and see you again soon!

Our Cubs channelled their inner action hero and spend the night at The Foundry Climbing Centre, learning how to climb and abseil. Thank you for having us!

It’s been a fun week for our Cubs and Beavers, who enjoyed an evening of games. Squirrels celebrated Chinese new year by making paper lanterns and also sampled lots of new foods!

Did you know... that celebratios for Chinese New Year traditionally lasts 16 days? This week our scout troops learnt a bit about the Year of the Rabbit, and finished off with lots of games including “Chasing the Dragon's Tail". Happy New Year 新年快乐!

As part of their Teamwork Challenge Award, our Alegre Cubs worked together to create an outfit for their model. Our Bella Vista Cubs worked on the Air Activities badge. A special thank you to our Young Leaders for planning and leading the section meetings this week!
