Here’s our chief exec with an update on the bizarre prosecution of a man for burning a Quran – and why we’re so concerned about the free speech implications of this case👇

This judgment on the Quran burning isn't just about one incident; it's a chilling precedent for how we handle dissent of religious beliefs. The freedom to object, even to religious ideas, is fundamental. Are we witnessing the return of blasphemy laws? Urgent appeal needed

I'm worried that trade trumps human rights in this trade agreement. Over £42M of UK taxpayers money spent on supporting Gulf states to improve on human rights and yet still no real progress!

Another powerful intervention by Paul Scriven🔶️🇺🇦 asking the UK Government: "Over £42 million of UK government spending from 2020 on the Gulf Strategy Fund has failed to demonstrably improve many of the human rights abuses detailed by the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy

Hamit Coskun, the man convicted for burning a Quran. was awoken at 2am last night by police and told “an imminent threat” to his life. Depressingly predictable. The prosecution put a target on his back. I hope the police can now protect him. telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/06/0…

bbc.co.uk/news/live/cg4r… MPs narrowly back legalising assisted dying in England and Wales by 23 votes - It will now come to the House of Lords where I will backing it and will stay open-minded about amendments that could enhance the Bill

Very worrying that no thought from the Government about the ethical issues around the new born DNA database and the issues of future withdrawal of consent for storage and use of thier DNA by an individual

You literally couldn't make this up. Streeting wants to reduce duplication in the health service so he decides to duplicate top bosses in the DHSC. This bodes well for accountability and strategic vision and direction!!

Seeing another person upset and distressed isn't something to make political capital of as some are trying...if you try to, it says much more about your own values and lack of empathy and humanity then anything else. I hope the Chancellor is OK and back to her normal self ASAP.

Yesterday, I broke my party whip (the 3rd time in 10 years) to say I regretted Palestine Action should be proscribed as a terrorist organisation. Yes, at times they act in a criminal way and should be held to account via existing laws. But terrorist I'm not convinced.

Three other perspectives? What is this, a balanced debate? Grimes trying to impose a lack of others having opinions and free speech.. The mask slips

Today marks 4 years since Dr Abduljalil Al‑Singace began his solid‑food hunger strike, protesting the confiscation of his research on Bahraini dialects. Now 63, he’s spent 14+ years jailed, currently held in solitary, denied sunlight & specialist medical care. #FreeAlsingace

Indeed, it is inappropriate. The sooner we get the same forced belief rituals stopped before Parliament can sit each day would be an improvement and help make the UK Parliament secular
