What a week! I spent two days sampling the Pee Dee River in southern NC where I got to help NC Wildlife Resources Commission biologists collect the iconic Robust Redhorse sucker. A species whose numbers are up due to a decade-long captive propagation conservation effort. 🟥🐴🐟

BREAKING: UNC students and community members have begun a tent encampment on Polk Place this morning, joining the pro-Palestine encampments happening at universities across the country.

Benji Jones Until the 2016 mass bleaching, a lot of mainstream coral scientists were at least open to the 'buying time' idea. But since then we've seen the world's most pristine, isolated, best-protected reefs (ie, no fishing or pollution) eg the Northern GBR, utterly devastated by warming.
