We at CPT Scotland were delighted to receive this from Bus Users UK, recognising our support of #catchthebusmonth. As if we wouldn't! It's always a pleasure to work with Greig Mackay and the rest of the Bus Users team.

Listening to the Scottish Parliament debate on ASB on buses. Shocked at Mark Ruskell suggesting that protecting staff and passengers isn't an operator priority. We will address this at next week's cross-party roundtable.

One of our budget asks was the resumption of the Bus Partnership Fund. Indication of a new Bus Infrastructure Fund is positive news. Structure and quantum of fund still unclear but this indicates Ministers have recognised the importance of freeing buses from congestion.

pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/opinion/665… Council acts in line with sustainable transport hierarchy to improve air quality, public health, tackle congestion, seeks evidence of impact and is accused of not acting in interest of citizens! What a ridiculous take.

SCIAF is absolutely shocked at the announcement that the UK Government will be slashing the UK aid budget by 40% - from 0.5 % GNI to 0.3% to fund defence spending. This is once again balancing budget decisions on the world’s poorest people. 🧵1/5

This is a fantastic relief. Congratulations to The City of Edinburgh Council for securing this lease extension. It is vital that Edinburgh retained a central station for bus and coach.

Dropping the car use reduction target, much like the cancellation of the Bus Partnership Fund, is hugely negative for sustainable transport. Criticism of bus speeds, reliability, even fares, have to be viewed in this context. national and local govt are failing to prioritise bus.

Good news for rail passengers. Although evaluation of the pilot was not glowing: transport.gov.scot/media/spen0osc… (estimated 2.4% growth in rail use at cost of £40m.) This commitment widens the gap between govt support for rail and bus.

It's #NationalCoachWeek Coach is the unsung hero of Scotland's transport network. Critical to Scotland's sustainable tourism, stepping in when other modes falter, and providing affordable, accessible travel links to all. This week is an opportunity to put coach in the spotlight.
