Scarce AND Titania's Fritillary both seen well today on the first full day of our Butterflies of the Italian Alps & French Mercantour tour, led by Paul Selby & Emmanuelle Juan. Fair to say that the week is off to a flying start!

How better to start the weekend than with a member of the swallowtail family (Papilionidae), a lovely Clouded Apollo found by Paul Selby and our Butterflies of the Italian Alps & French Mercantour group... #butterflies youtu.be/TyFZQrXCWBk

Day 3 of the Mariposa Nature Tours holiday to the Italian Alps & French Mercantour. Amongst other highlights was this Reverdin's Blue egg laying. Poplar Admiral also seen, we're already up to 83 butterfly species

It's not all about the butterflies here on the Mariposa Nature Tours holiday to the Italian Alps & French Mercantour. The scenery and meadows on Day 4 of the trip were also spectacular.

Postcard from the field today from tour leader Paul Selby, on our Butterflies of the Italian Alps & French Mercantour tour: Superb views today for our guests of the very beautiful and localised Titania's Fritillary in meadows near to our Italian base. youtu.be/WxUWfQnVm44

BC Europe Your tour leaders for this ultimate Butterflies of North Greece tour are a formidable duo - David Moore & Martin Davies, combining their enormous European butterfly experience with local site knowledge borne of annual visits to the area, good humour & boundless enthusiasm. (3/3)

Postcard live from the field this morning from tour leader Paul Selby, and we can hear the excitement in his voice - and no wonder, this is one of around a dozen Southern Swallowtail our group have enjoyed seeing in the Italian Alps today! youtu.be/aONy43_eY7s

Star of the show on Day 5 of the Mariposa Nature Tours holiday to the Italian Alps & French Mercantour was Southern Swallowtail. There were 10+ individuals, some of which kindly stopped for nectar and photos! 🦋

I know, yes, it's obscured slightly by some grass. But this is Alpine Grayling, one of the hardest butterflies in Europe to see & photo. Seen today on Day 6 of the Mariposa Nature Tours holiday to the Italian Alps & French Mercantour. A new species for me and our guests delighted! 🦋
