My heart aches for the children, parents and whole community of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We must stop the madness of those who should not have them being able to easily obtain the most lethal of weapons. We must move forward on gun safety. Thinking of all those in pain today.

Happy Labor Day — a time to thank the working people who build and power our state and the unions who fight to protect rights. We must keep the middle class promise alive in America—health care, housing you can afford, and a public transportation system that allows us to work.

The shooting Charlie Kirk is sickening. Hoping for his recovery and thinking of his family. We must end political violence and gun violence of all kinds. We need healing in America.

I’ll never forget the fall morning in my first weeks at GW when the smoke rose as a plane hit the pentagon. When we huddled around TVs and then I went to see it for myself, as close as I could safely get. I will always remember and honor the victims and heroes of 9/11
