A lot of work by Amélie Debray, Hugo Gravel, and others went into this one! Bottom line: Sauna bathing for 8 weeks did not improve any of the markers we measured, despite evidence of heat acclimation: journals.physiology.org/doi/abs/10.115…

Extreme heat events are life-threatening, especially for the elderly and individuals with CVD, resulting in increased hospitalizations and deaths. In response, passive heating therapy emerges as a promising intervention to enhance physiological resilience to a warming planet.🔥🌍

While passive increases in muscle temp via HWI can enhance rapid muscle contraction, it may impair motor control tasks. This was evidenced in our later study, showing decreased force steadiness and increased MUDR variability after a single session of HWI. shorturl.at/3FP5B

Even with matched prescriptions, the intensity reference method (speed vs. HR) matters — due to dynamic shifts between intensity dimensions. Patrick Rodrigues Anne H. 📰 Editorial (European Journal of Applied Physiology ): doi.org/10.1007/s00421… 📄 New study (JSAMS ): doi.org/10.1016/j.jsam…
