Pastors, don’t resign. It’s just Monday. Instead… ✅ drink some good coffee. ✅ pray honestly. ✅ sit still and in silence. ✅ lift something heavy. ✅ grieve your losses. ✅ talk to a safe friend. Save the rest for tomorrow.

Pray for your pastor tonight. He will preach a sermon in the next 12 hours he has poured over all week and wants to serve his people with it. And he is trying to go to sleep now.

Made it to Hawaii to speak at a conference this weekend with my friend, Mark Hallock working again with the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention. A beautiful, but broken place with pastors who need help, support and encouragement. Practical Shepherding Would appreciate your prayers.

The church health conference here in Honolulu, HI could not have done better. Thanks to the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Convention for inviting myself and Mark Hallock to be a part of this excellent event. I’m preaching tomorrow at Olivet Baptist Church here. Thanks for praying.

Preached this morning at Olivet Baptist Church in Honolulu, Hawaii. Then lunch with the pastor and my friend, Jamie and his wife, Liz. Also really fun to have my wife and youngest daughter with me on this trip. Head home tomorrow.

Every pastor should be learning from an older pastor and investing in a younger pastor. So many issues with pastors would be helped if this was embraced.

Pray for your pastor today. He might be facing a spiritual attack from the enemy today that is keeping him from preparing to pour out and minister to his congregation tomorrow.

Every couple of months I drive 2 hours to get lunch with this amazing friend, Dr. Robert Smith. He has been an answer to prayer for me as a friend and mentor in this season of my life. My encouragement to pastors to have an older man in their life applies to me too.

Pray for your pastor today. As he prepares to preach and minister tomorrow, he might be more distracted by the people who won’t be there instead of being focused on the souls that will be there tomorrow.

Pastors, it’s Monday. Don’t resign. Instead… ✅ Drink some good coffee ✅ Get some sun. ✅ Go for a walk in nature. ✅ Lift something heavy. ✅ Sit still and in silence. ✅ Pray with an open honesty. ✅ Spend time with a friend. Bi-vo pastors, do this on breaks and lunch.

Pastors, challenge your older people to invest in those younger than them in your church. This generational disciple idea is undeniable in Titus 2. Sadly, it is hard to find in many churches. And yet, it is an overlooked metric of which we should measure church health.

Here’s the first part of an interview I did with an amazing man, Alton Hardy, who’s doing an incredible work, planting churches in the urban poor in Birmingham. This is worth a listen. —Brian practicalshepherding.com/trenchtalk/297
