Had my last volunteer shift at Vancouver Island this week. It's been a fun 5 years and I'm looking forward to volunteering in Calgary once I move for school.

Got to start up cell culture today for the first time in about a year. Good to be back in the metaphorical saddle/physical BSC.

Had a great time at Host-Parasite Interactions 's weekend boot camp and the Inflammation Research Network dinner afterwards. Met a ton of cool, friendly people and I can say that at least one new helminth student group chat has come out of it. Thanks everyone!

Finished painting another piece of Warhammer 40K terrain last night. One more (admittedly large) building to go and I'm done the set.

I hope everyone enjoys my post! It was a really interesting experience researching and writing this and a joy to combine two of my biggest interests: parasites and military history.

Very happy that we did it! It was a fascinating project that led us to a lot of interesting science and history and a show of great teamwork.

If I ever write a paper on swine flu, someone remind me to make a "when pigs fly" joke. Too good an opportunity to let pass.
