Just had explosive interaction w/ Columbia University’s heightened security coming onto campus. They followed me to my office & then lied, saying I didn’t scan my ID for entry (I did) & I pushed an officer (I didn’t). An ugly scene followed. They did this to me, a tenured, full professor.

The truly fascistic part of this whole debacle is this:

Abbott and Republicans spent two sessions passing laws to protect people who spew hate online or on college campuses.

They knew this was a peaceful protest. They sent in riot police because they didn't like the message.

This is like the Boogaloo Boys trying to malign BLM protests, so that the massive number of peaceful protesters got subsumed into one person’s negative action.

It’s intellectually dishonest. But those who DO NOT want to engage with the actual issue will do ANYTHING to distract.

As with the three-hour argument in Trump v. Anderson, a disconcertingly precious little of the two-hour argument today was even devoted to the specific and only question presented for decision.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the only violence associated with anti-Gaza war, pro-human rights demonstrations currently being carried on on college campuses has been associated with police efforts to stop the protests. The protests themselves have not led to anyone being hurt.
