This is a special fossil for #SharkWeek it's a tooth plate of a Jurassic shark called Hybodus. It's from when the shark died, rather than teeth falling out naturally. It came from Lyme Regis. Natural History Museum purchased this from Mary Anning in 1846, a year before she died. #Shark 🦈

Solenopora jurassica was (probably) a red calcareous algae which lived in Jurassic seas. Each band represents seasonal fluctuations in palaeoenvironment, the pink bands relating to lower salinity and higher rates of photosynthesis. #BarbieTheMovie #Barbie #FossilFriday
