Happy everyone!! Sometimes we find 'fake' ammonite fossils! These are called Xenomorphs. This is caused when a bivalve or oyster attaches itself to another animal's shell and starts to grow and mould its own around the host animal's shell!

Scelidosaurus is the best preserved dinosaur excavated from the British Isles. Not only that, coming from the Early Jurassic, it's placed at the early forking of major dinosaur groups.

Also, it's so cute, it has scute bunny ears!

Breeding brachycephalic breeds like Pugs and English bulldogs should be considered animal cruelty. Intentionally breeding a dog you know will have breathing problems (+other problems, reduced quality of life) for the rest of its life just because you think it's cute is fucked up.

in 1819 anatomist Sir Everard Home read his 5th paper The Royal Society on the 'crocodile' fossils found by and her family. He figured this skull, sold by them to Col. Thomas Birch and then purchased for Musรฉum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris at the sale of Birch's collection in 1820.

Did you know that Temnodontosaurus, the famed Ichthyosaurus discovered by Joseph and Mary Anning, had the largest eyes of any known animal - ever? At a record-breaking size of 26 centimetres! But why did it need such giant eyeballs? ๐Ÿงต

Last day in Morocco! ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
Been a great trip exploring the local geology with researchers from Yorkshire Natural History Museum, Natural History Museum & Lauer Foundation for Paleontology, Science and Edu.
Of course I had to go see the local plesiosaurs, and managed to even fit in some fossil prep. ๐Ÿฆ•
