🧵Let’s talk about drug court. Drug courts aren’t an alternative to incarceration. They’re not lowering the prison population. They’re not saving money. They’re a drug war tactic that increases OD deaths. phr.org/our-work/resou…

Federal law mandates that hospice businesses provide pain meds and other pain management techniques like nerve blocks, PT, palliative x-ray therapy, etc. If you’re the family member of a hospice pt whose pain was not controlled before death, you may have legal recourse.

I understand why Walgreens & CVS Pharmacy have again become reluctant to dispensing pain medications! Dept. of Justice's allegations will tell us whether the current administration supports access to pain care or not - the #CPP community must be watching. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

For a deep dive into the complexities and ambiguity of the terms "opioid misuse" and "opioid use disorder," check out this article: Diagnosis and Coding of Opioid Misuse: A Systematic Scoping Review and Implementation Framework - PubMed (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40036760/).

Please add a comment to the Doctor Patient Forum’s excellent petition to have the FDA regulate Narxcare: regulations.gov/commenton/FDA-… The Doctor Patient Forum submitted objections to the unregulated use of Narxcare in dictating clinician’s prescribing decisions in patient care.

So sick of this FALSE narrative. Multiple large studies show the rate of addiction in medical use is less than 1%. The risk of addiction is less than the risk of dying in an auto accident (1.08%). Should cars be banned? 🙄

Ridiculous 🐂💩 article from CNN research has proven that Chronic Pain conditions are NOT psychologically based. So sick of the attempt by the psych community to co-opt pain to milk funds for research & increase their patient base🤬 cnn.com/2025/04/11/hea…

Interesting that Stanford Pain Medicine is now limiting who can reply to their posts 🤨 It seems that they don't like being called out when they provide misinformation like THIS👇

The FDA is about to make decisions that could permanently damage pain care in the United States … again. On May 5th, a joint FDA advisory meeting will review two key studies (PMR 3033-1 & 3033-2) supposedly assessing the risks of extended-release/long-acting (ER/LA) opioid

Lulu Not a chance! Basically, PROP petitioned FDA in 2011 to do post marketing reviews on opioids. FDA did, but results didn’t support PROP or removal of opioids. So, til 2018, FDA redesigned PMR studies. Saw 11 more, none benefited PROP. Now, seems they found 2 someone likes!

The repeated failure to disclose conflicts of interest from Dr Chou is serious, given his impact on the lives of millions of Americans I appreciate the diligence of Dr Kollas in demanding more than quite barely-noticeable corrections.

What percentage of people prescribed an opioid for the first time use a very low dose and end opioid therapy quickly? 97% The remaining 3% who do continue using an opioid long term are characterized as having a higher disease burden, with more complexity, and tend to be older.

LONG-TERM OPIOD THERAPY - DOES IT WORK? For various reasons, we don’t see many studies examining the benefits of long-term opioid therapy (LTOT.) Does it work? Do people benefit? If so, how many people benefit? In the Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 15 Long-Term Opioid

Do not cut off opioid pain medicine suddenly Do not rely on “a report from another state” that the patient “had been using alcohol” to decide how to treat a patient

“Medical errors generated by AI could compromise patient safety and lead to misdiagnoses and inappropriate treatment decisions, which can cause injury or death,” the report warned. painmedicinenews.com/Online-First/A…
