When you combine explicit instruction with high expectations and classroom rules. Don't take it from me. Take it from the kids. 😊

Fact Fluency and Daily Goals: Every morning, we do Brian Poncy Math 2-a-days timed math facts. I recently started a daily goal (a crude imitation of Precision Teaching). Ss count how many problems they got 1st timing then make a goal of 2-4 more problems for the 2nd timing. /1

I'm excited about our new book, pulling together the threads of what great schools do & celebrating them. We've explored curriculum, learning, behaviour, attendance, personal development & leadership. I'm forever indebted to all schools I've visited/ worked with. Link in comment

It’s amazing how much more successful my students are with concept mapping now that I explicitly teach them key knowledge and model how to make connections. It used to be such a struggle, but now they’re building rich, connected webs of understanding instead of scattered facts.👇

If you wish you had questions you could ask your students to encourage them to use their intuition, then check out this ready to go list from Tracy Zager: tjzager.com/wp-content/upl… You can get her book here: amzn.to/4eSBiMY

School culture is taught, not caught. At Longdendale we intentionally model and explicitly teach our core values of respect, resilience and aspiration. Our operation reset at the beginning of each half term is an important landmark during the academy year to remind students of

Michael Chiles 🌍 Would it be more accurate to say it is better taught than hopefully caught — in particular contexts? I say this as the culture at my 1960s grammar school was caught by pupils. No lessons, posters or assemblies on its specific behaviours. Just picked it up, immediately.

How do you get kids to independent practice? First is teach them properly. The details matter there. But, after, Denarius has kids think, tell their partner, jot down conclusions, and then cold calls with intentionality - all before proceeding to IP. educationrickshaw.com/2025/10/25/s5e…

Education Authority Unbelievable that EA are saying this now "Education services in NI have faced growing and increasingly unsustainable budgetary shortfalls for a number of years" School leaders have been saying this for more than a decade....

Graham Gault (@drgrahamgault) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Education Authority Years of political underfunding have brought NI education to crisis point. Cuts to EOTAS, meals, transport and music hit the most vulnerable. Politicians were warned and chose not to act. Children are now paying the price.

The view from here: heading home from the uplifting launch of The RSC’s new online ‘Shakespeare Curriculum’. It’s built to give young people genuine agency in exploring and interpreting Shakespeare. Oh, and the venue was where ‘Twelfth Night’ was first performed. Breathtaking.

Students of secondary English often find full model answers overwhelming... or they understand 'why' but not 'how'. 🧠This resource can break down the steps of a some/clear/perceptive answer, helping students visualise the differences 🎯: stan.store/secondaryengli…
