Some of our members in the Irish Times this morning with a strong message on the concerning trends within Irish academia. Universities are increasingly run like businesses, and PhD researchers (especially non-EU) are on the coalface of this. 👇👇

The management of Irish universities is so ludicrous that it makes the HSE look like a well run thing. Fully agree with what they are saying.

Hopefully Ireland will stop aping the the UK example & start rebuilding universities that put public purpose & free enquiry at their core not managerialism or excessive salaries for some James Lawless Laura Harmon

In April, after continuous pressure from recipients, their PIs, the PWO and others, SEAI-funded researchers FINALLY received an update on the increases promised in Jan 24. We have to ask: would employees be treated with such contempt and disrespect? #PGRsDeserveBetter
