Disappointed by today's American Historical Association statement. Written after members demanded AHA acknowledge the scholasticide occurring in Gaza and stand for academic freedom, AHA repeats a bigoted slur that Middle East historians hear often from our colleagues: "Your work isn't History."

If all that is being reported is accurate, we just witnessed Israel authorize an assassination attempt from with the UN- the very body, whose raison d’être is to avoid war, maintain peace &security. What a disgraceful mockery. And the thread unraveling what’s left of it is Israel.

If you understand Arabic, this is one of the best lectures I've heard in recent years. It's by Prof. Lotfi Aissa on the approaches to writing the comparative history of the Maghreb! youtube.com/watch?v=YNxcMn…
