OTD 1982 The goal that poked the hornet's nest. Scotland took the lead against Brazil through this David Narey belter. Sadly it ended 4-1 to Brazil.

πŸ“° Callum McGregor: We wanted to give Martin the send off he deserved πŸ’¬ "He’s come in when the club was in need, he answered the call and along with his coaches, they’ve been first class." #CELDUN | #CelticFCπŸ€

Superb contributions from Martin O'Neill, Shaun Maloney and Stephen McManus over last five weeks at Celtic to pass on manager's baton to Wilfried Nancy. Martin and Shaun's reputations were on the line and both stepped up, and deserve Celtic's gratitude for that work. #CelticFC

I covered Celtic's Uefa Cup run in 2003. Anfield and Henrik's winner at Boavista still shine despite pain of Seville. But Martin O'Neill's 3-1 EL win at Feyenoord last week echoed the past for Celtic. Great to hear Martin tell Callum McGregor how good a player he is! #CelticFC

Fifth time for Scotland-Brazil in World Cup. Billy Bremner came close to scoring winner at 0-0 in 74, David Narey stunner in 82 in 4-1 defeat, 1-0 in 1990 (Turin - there as a Scotland fan) and 2-1 in Paris in 98, which I covered in Stade de France. #Scotland #FIFAWorldCup2026

Thanks to World Cup draw over-running, got to hear Simple Minds "The American" (one of my real favourites) on Grant Stott on BBC and surely a message to Donald Trump with the line "what do you know about this world anyway?" #Scotland #SimpleMinds

Everyone at Celtic Football Club is deeply saddened at the news that Celtic legend and goalscoring hero, Dixie Deans has sadly passed away at the age of 79.

Any modern Celtic fan would get a sense of Dixie Deans from this great video. Lucky to see all his goals in person , as a fan, and the one against Basle in 1974 European Cup, quarter final, putting Celtic into semis from Steve Murray's pass, still resonates for me. #CelticFC

So sad about Dixie Deans' death. Saw all his Celtic goals with my dad, including the six against Partick Thistle and the six against Hibs in one week in Oct 1974 - three at Celtic Park in the league and hat-trick at Hampden in LC final (pictured). Rest in peace, Dixie. #CelticFC

Best thing about Celtic v Roma was meeting Jim Craig again. Jim there to pay tribute to old team-mate, Dixie Deans, reminded me only three Lisbon Lions are left. Jim, Bobby Lennox and Willie Wallace. Right-backs are vital. Maybe something for Wilfried Nancy to ponder. #CelticFC
