Did you know? Coastal Cactus Wren populations are declining due to the loss of their cactus scrub habitat. The park's design team incorporated cactus scrub planting into the landscaping so that these birds could have adequate nesting habitat in our park! #PHLP #LACountyParks

Did you know? The Mule Deer is a large terrestrial mammal native to western North America. The Puente Hills Regional Park will be part of a wildlife corridor in the San Gabriel Valley, so animals like the mule deer can travel safely from place to place. #PHLP #LACountyParks

A major priority of the Puente Hills Landfill Park plan is increasing biodiversity in the region. Plant and animal biodiversity is integral to maintaining healthy ecosystems and preventing fallout from weather-related events like flooding and drought. #PHLP #LACountyParks

Did you know? The Western Skink (and its local subspecies the Coronado Skink) have blue tails until adulthood! When threatened, western skinks can “lose” their tail, which falls off and moves by itself to distract predators while the skink escapes. #PHLP #LACountyParks

A major goal in designing the Puente Hills Landfill Park is to create an accessible, multi-modal transportation network within the park. We will also prioritize inclusive wayfinding methods so that everyone can safely and comfortably explore the park. #PHLP #LACountyParks

We recently received a $15 million reward from the U.S. Dept. of the Interior Land and Water Conservation Fund’s Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership Program (ORLP)! This award is yet another important step in bringing the vision for Puente Hills Landfill Park to life! #PHLP
