So great to see more people cycling in #gibraltar This potentially means 2 cars less on the road and perhaps 2 less parking spaces taken up somewhere for someone else (who can’t or doesn’t want to cycle), to enjoy. Win win 👏👏

Great to see our Redibikes #gibraltar donation spreading out & being used in other cities. Now in Agadir & Marrakesh. If you are ever over there on holiday, strongly recommend city tour with Cantal Bakker Inspiring locals, helping with employment & teaching how to ride a bicycle

The Labour government will invest “unprecedented levels of funding” in cycling & walking as a critical part of plans to improve health & inequality. GOV.UK recognising that promoting active travel, #cycling & walking reduces health care costs #gibraltar John Cortes

Estepona continues its work pedestrianising its city centre, breathing life into its roads, once full of parked cars and vehicles jostling to drive through the centre. Locals although up in arms when announcing are starting to see the benefits. Soon they will embrace as their own

Transport planners must start to learn the natural behaviour of cyclists & e-scooter users and apply it. It’s basic stuff of undergraduate courses. We won’t trundle rain or shine, all the way to the end of the road & back, we follow desire paths John Cortes #gibraltar BYCS

Will bicycle lanes be part of the planning requirements? No mention of these in the story. The てっぺい and the Active Travel Strategy laid these requirements out when published #gibraltar John Cortes BYCS

Visiting Pontevedra & its officials learning how they turned around such an unpopular initiative creating a car-free city where cars are not banned, they simply rather not be there, where the pedestrian is king & everyone enjoys clean air & quiet streets #gibraltar LUB

This scary. 4 weeks since fan was bought & this is the buildup of dust & gunge. This is the air we breathe in #gibraltar with massive health consequences. Would be interesting to test the origin of this dirt, refinery, vehicles & traffic, port activity John Cortes

I know the sun will come out again soon. As my good friend Steven Linares an eternal optimist, will surely be saying, it’s going to be alright…… and it will. See you there soon.

Spanish PM pushes the bicycle agenda, bicycle sharing, subsidy schemes & encouraging bicycle use as an alternative mode of transport. #Gibraltar can’t stop the momentum, we are small so costs are relatively small & the associated benefits huge, especially health John Cortes

There are many things that aren’t being checked on our roads. These things are often blamed on policy makers when it’s the engineers & often their subcontractors that don’t follow rules & take short cuts. Works must always be audited. That’s the policy that needs setting
