Everything Kevin Harlan does on a radio broadcast is absolute perfection. I have about 50 checks I make to see if a radio guy is good and understands the specific craft. Most folks check about 25-30. Harlan check 75 of my boxes. Syracuse should study this guy and nothing else.

There’s a space where the pxp ends and then throws to color. Kevin throws from pxp to color by saying “gain of 4, Hall of Famer Kurt Warner”. Kurt’s pumped he mentioned his name. The listener now knows who the color guy is. Broadcasting 101. It’s the little things.

Every other play, he gives the score, time left, quarter and down and distance. Simple. A skill that’s imperative to learn. He does it better than anyone.

Guy can literally do anything.

Here he is throwing his arms out to make sure his color guys don’t talk and ruin the moment of the crowd going bananas. And then back to him. with all due respect to the color guys, it’s the crowd and the pxp guy at that moment. Amazing awareness to read the moment.
