This study 🇳🇱 found that acral melanoma had lower RFS, DMFS, and OS rates than cutaneous melanoma when treated with adjuvant anti-PD1. Compared to CM, AM showed higher alterations in KIT (8 vs 1%) and lower alt. in BRAF (27 vs 42%) and NRAS (11 vs 24%). onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ij…

I am really happy to see the #preprint of our work studying #acral #melanoma tumours from 🇲🇽 Mexican patients out today! This has been a ~8 year-long work involving many colleagues from Mexico and abroad. Some of our findings here below.... ⬇️ (1/12)

Most of the patients we studied have predominantly Amerindian ancestry (median 79%), with European (median 14%) and African (median 2.6%) ancestries also contributing to their genomes. This is in line with these patients being Mexican -an Admixed American population (2/12)

We performed genotyping, whole-exome and transcriptome sequencing on 128 tumours from 96 patients. We identify the common #melanoma drivers + KIT as the most frequently mutated genes in this collection, and also... (3/12)

The mutational profile is associated with recurrence-free survival - patients with any driver mutation have a higher probability of recurrence than patients without these mutations, with NF1 mutations likely having a stronger effect (4/12)
