Last week, the PAACT team attended the 2024 Annual Governor’s Summit on Early Language and Literacy Deal Center for Early Language and Literacy GCSU. We loved learning more about the intricacies of the Georgia Early Literacy Act, dove into a discussion about “parents as first teachers,” and learned so much more!

Due to expected rain showers, Popsicles in the Park at Brownwood Park is rescheduled for Thursday, September 12. Don’t worry, we’re back on Thursday, August 1 at 5pm to celebrate the First Day of School at West Cascade Park with free popsicles.

Last week, PAACT hosted its quarterly partner meeting. Collective impact is at the heart of our work, so we love bringing our partners together to share stories, solutions, and lessons learned as we collaborate to address issues impacting Atlanta’s youngest children.

Last Tuesday, we had an incredible meeting with our advisory board members. We shared program updates, had in-depth conversations about our initiatives, and brainstormed actionable strategies to best support Atlanta’s children and families.

PAACT Director, Shawnell Johnson, recently joined a panel of remarkable champions for early literacy at The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc.’s Fall General Membership Meeting. Together, they highlighted why early literacy matters and how it's a citywide effort in which we all play a role.

We had an amazing time at Sheltering Arms’ Embrace Early and Create the Future fundraiser. It was a night full of meaningful connections and moving storytelling. Big thanks to Sheltering Arms for hosting such a powerful event. 🎉 #EECF2024
