Like so much second rate research they'll start with the answer and work back into the facts. Bogus academia.

There could be a half way house. British Racing keeps control but involves ultra high net worth individuals and sovereign funds to invest in top racing and genuinely promote our sport worldwide. Do we possess the commercial acumen to set this up properly? Not at the moment.

Well done all. Excellent initiative and would be great if more tracks strengthened the links with trainers, owners and stable staff away from racedays.

Started the weekend in The Bells of Peover before Luttrell Lad's run in the Swinton Haydock Park Races and finishing it with a celebration of that game run in The Dysart Arms around the corner from home in Peckforton. Thank you Tom Lacey Claire Hart Equine

Completely agree. British Horseracing Authority & leading lights in the sport should draw up A Charter for Change. A proper plan addressing all the key changes required for sustainability of racing. Then challenge everyone to sign up to it or vacate their leadership positions.Line in the Sand.

Racing should split regulation and integrity, which by necessity is rule bound and bureaucratic, away from a radically redfined commercial and customer focussed entity which should be entrepreneurial and responsive. NOT led by current crew. New wine: new bottles.Lee Mottershead

I'm somewhat more optimistic despite the mess we're in. I genuinely believe that there is a virtuous circle of top quality, exciting and compelling racing that appeals to customers of the sport nationally and internationally. Convert that into reality...or sink under the waves.

Parker needs to be next to fall on his sword. Process of rebuilding Thoroughbred Group and Racehorse Owners Association can then proceed. Could be too late if membership income holed below the waterline. Next AGM will be interesting. Louise Norman

Sidestepping a bit, two strands are worth considering. Racing has no idea of its 'asset value' and would benefit from a framework to understand it. Also, globalisation of racing, top races, breeding and betting is rapidly increasing. Harness these opportunities. Lee Mottershead

Racing doesn't genuinely interact with or listen to the 90%. It's inwardly focussed led by individuals scared of their own shadows. Well intentioned but weak. And a brute to change. Huge weight of self serving inertia.

Premierisation is all about top tracks, top trainers, top breeders and top owners looking after themselves and ignoring the needs of 90% of racing's customers. Rob Peter to pay Paul. Doomed. Guaranteed to fail.

I've often thought that British Racing's asset value is much ignored. Don't know whether this is the way to maximise it but a proper strategic focus on harnessing it well worth considering. If only we would produce a proper strategic plan rather than fund a few consultants.

Tin hats and panic stations. Two years of this and then two years of that. All the wrong way round. If you don't have a map of where you're trying to get to don't be surprised when you get lost. British Horseracing Authority

Would love to see independent, local suppliers with food and drink from the area. Racecourses to show off the Best of British Food, wine, cider and beer. Make meetings a food fest. Not serve up the usual unhealthy, bland and overpriced rubbish.

Lots going on now in racing's corridors of power. A sense of panic. Heads rolling, initiatives failing, existential threats everywhere. Phew. How about a bold, radical plan with a purpose. One that genuinely sustains owners, racegoers and bettors. Customer led. Lee Mottershead
