Started the weekend in The Bells of Peover before Luttrell Lad's run in the Swinton Haydock Park Races and finishing it with a celebration of that game run in The Dysart Arms around the corner from home in Peckforton. Thank you Tom Lacey Claire Hart Equine
Completely agree. British Horseracing Authority & leading lights in the sport should draw up A Charter for Change. A proper plan addressing all the key changes required for sustainability of racing. Then challenge everyone to sign up to it or vacate their leadership positions.Line in the Sand.
Racing should split regulation and integrity, which by necessity is rule bound and bureaucratic, away from a radically redfined commercial and customer focussed entity which should be entrepreneurial and responsive. NOT led by current crew. New wine: new bottles.Lee Mottershead
Parker needs to be next to fall on his sword. Process of rebuilding Thoroughbred Group and Racehorse Owners Association can then proceed. Could be too late if membership income holed below the waterline. Next AGM will be interesting. Louise Norman
Sidestepping a bit, two strands are worth considering. Racing has no idea of its 'asset value' and would benefit from a framework to understand it. Also, globalisation of racing, top races, breeding and betting is rapidly increasing. Harness these opportunities. Lee Mottershead
Tin hats and panic stations. Two years of this and then two years of that. All the wrong way round. If you don't have a map of where you're trying to get to don't be surprised when you get lost. British Horseracing Authority
Lots going on now in racing's corridors of power. A sense of panic. Heads rolling, initiatives failing, existential threats everywhere. Phew. How about a bold, radical plan with a purpose. One that genuinely sustains owners, racegoers and bettors. Customer led. Lee Mottershead
