Also anecdotal, but a lot of students are simply not taking step 1 serious during the first 2 years, due to pass fail, and then finding out just how hard of a test it is to pass as time approaches. Also, hurts them on step 2 even if they do pass because there is so much

All of these paid “mentorship” subscriptions for medical students popping up on social media are so cringe/predatory. Do not pay for mentorship. They are not your mentor, they are using your anxiety for cash flow and hoping for “mail box money”. Plenty of real mentors out

This is okay advice, unless you want to do academics or a highly competitive specialty. The person from Harvard will always have an upper hand on the person from a no name state MD school or DO school. The better your school/access to resources the more accessible the top
