Interesting symposium #131 hosted by our enthusiastic OHE-team member Tessa Visser #ASTMH23
Last week Sander Koenraadt and Jᴇʀᴏᴇɴ Sᴘɪᴛᴢᴇɴ ‘trained’ to Montpellier for a workshop on ‘The greening of cities and the effects on vectors’ organized by IRD.fr. Aedes albopictus still very active in the (beautiful) botanical gardens and nearby city center.
I really love our campus and its atmosphere Wageningen U&R, but some places are still a thorn in the side. Today, I even observed live mosquito larvae in the water of this ‘pond’ underneath our auditorium (Omnia). More greenness will promote natural enemies. Karen Kloth as witness ;).
PhD defense Radboud University of Alexis Rulisa about the economic links between rice irrigation and malaria in Rwanda. Great work from an interdisciplinary team.
Last few days to apply for a PhD on mosquitoes, diseases and environmental change in Scotland at @UofG_SBOHVM. With Juan Manuel Morales, Heather Ferguson and me. 🦟🦠🌄☔️🏴 Apply before Thursday!
Another great poster at the #esove, David Castañeda shows how LAMP assays can be used as a cost-effective xenosurveillance approach using reusable aluminium coffee cups! Have a look at S7-P09.
I travelled all the way to #ESOVE # Montpellier to see my vector biology hero Fredros Okumu .., .. on screen ! Good example that you can give inspiring talks without adding tons to your CO2 footprint. 🦟
Whooo, we have a winner! Congratulations David Castañeda with the poster prize at the #esove2024 👏. The 3D printed coffee cups used for the LAMP method were a great addition to the poster. #xenosurveillance #onehealthentomology
Tomorrow, my joint Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness Center (PDPC) PhD project with Biodiversity Research Leiden University (CML) and One Health Entomology Group, Wageningen University on the effects salinization of Dutch waterways on mosquitoes will be featured in the Dutch NTR Wetenschap program Focus. Tune in on October 31 at 20:55 on #NPO2.
