New paper out! We find that, while uncertainty language and negative sentiment on X increased for COVID-19 and 2020 US elections, during the Capitol attack, the link reversed! Moral outrage, anger and fear spiked, and uncertainty language went down. psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi…

Had a great time talking to The Mental Elf about some of our work on structure learning and uncertainty in anxiety at #BAP2024. Mostly re this paper: nature.com/articles/s4146…

💫🚨 #CCN2024 Curious about different mechanisms of generalization? Check out poster B26 by Luianta Verra on how there seem to be genuine (+ stable) individual differences in generalization mechanisms, and how these relate to anxiety. Work with Nico Schuck and Bernhard Spitzer 👇

"Confidence-weighted integration of human and machine judgments for superior decision-making" w Felipe Yáñez Xiaoliang (Ken) Luo Can humans, when performing worse than LLMs, add value to teams? Yes, bc humans and LLMs make different errors. Simple, fast, easy method arxiv.org/abs/2408.08083

🚨 Check our new work on learning from surprising outcomes in older and younger adults. It was fantastic to be part of this team 💫💫

🚨I'm looking for a postdoc! The role will be focused on building computational models of learning and decision-making, and understanding the role of these processes in anxiety Get in touch if you want to know more! See job advert here for details: my.corehr.com/pls/kclrecruit…

Exporting all plots to svg/pdf is the way to go. Basically ALL graphical and plotting tools have this option (incl matplotlib, base r, julia, ggplot). Thanks for spreading the word Leonardo Jo, I come across this way too often 🙏🙏

Long overdue #tweeprint: ✨The generalised hierarchical Gaussian filter✨ Ever wanted to build your own hierarchical Bayesian learning model without deriving/implementing new equations? Ever wondered how the HGF relates to predictive coding? See here👇 arxiv.org/abs/2305.10937

📰 New preprint! We show using computational modelling that transdiagnostic compulsivity is associated with greater uncertainty about learned task structure This work was led by Siri Sookud, starting during her MSc Thread below👇 osf.io/preprints/psya… 1/n
