This is where the gymnastics community is fantastic; I gathered the lovely extra details on Denisa Golgota’s comeback through being told it by Romanian gymnastics fans who are better informed than me. I’m always so grateful when people share things that can enhance my commentary.

I am so sorry for this mistake. I was working from an archive that didn’t have the 1991 junior championships listed; it didn’t go back this far. It’s my fault for not double checking. I was trying to make it a really special moment for these great young gymnasts and failed 😞.

It’s going to be a dramatic day today; 0.5 separates 22-30 in the overnight AA qualification rankings, with a significant handful of gymnasts currently only posting one score and likely to fly up the leaderboard as the day goes on. The race for the top 24 will be fascinating! 🇪🇪

To mark International Olympic Day, here I am looking both happy and terrified at my first Olympic Games as a commentator, 9 years ago. I no longer feel the terror, but still feel the joy and the weight of responsibility to do the athletes justice and to get the words right.

Rare that I get to just sit down and watch tennis as a fan, and watching Wimbledon as a child is where my love of the sport began. This Norrie-Tiafoe match is terrific!
